Summary

Growing up in the Sierra Nevadas of California I have been drawing and making various artworks since I was a young kid just looking for an interesting way to pass the time, and as I grew older I began to notice an improvement in the quality and quantity of my work which was around the same time I truly began to fall in love with the actual process involved. Making all kinds of art in a variety of mediums has always been my favorite outlet for freedom, creativity and exploration which has allowed me to better express how I feel or what I think in an interesting and dynamic way, as well as acting as a form of stress relief where I can block out the rest of the world and just focus on creating something uniquely mine for the sake of my own enjoyment. Over the years drawing has truly become a useful tool for working out lingering frustrations or even to more clearly organize my thoughts and feelings while still remaining to be an enjoyable use of time. Although getting outside praise regarding some of my work is very encouraging, I find that I am most motivated by a deep seeded desire to improve on myself and be better than I was yesterday. Looking inward rather than focusing on the abilities of someone who I may perceive as having a superior skill set is my way of focusing on building upon myself and improving my own abilities. The intended audience for my work has always been myself first, as I usually need to really like or constantly revise whatever I have made before I want to share it with an actual audience. The intent behind my artwork is first and foremost to push myself to try making new and interesting things using both the platforms and methods that I am already familiar with, as well as utilizing newer methods and tools where I have the ability to explore and build on new ideas through a creative process. I try to use my artwork to represent how I have personally grown as an individual and also to better articulate my own personal outlook on life, commonly in a simple or humorous manner as I have always been an enduring fan of anything that gets people to laugh or smile. I started off with small simple doodles of cartoon skeletons or eyeballs whenever I found myself with notebook paper or something I could draw on and now I am fortunate enough to find myself making artwork using intricate code and digital media platforms like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. I chose to pursue a life of making art simply because it was the only subject in school that constantly had my full attention and truly got me excited to learn. Looking back through my childhood it’s easy to understand how common things like watching old looney tunes episodes and drawing funny characters in class became ingrained in who I am as a person and what brings me the most joy and satisfaction.
